real life...
If anybody has actualy read my RL postings you may know that I've worked at the service station from hell for about seven years. The place is falling apart and the owners have absolutly no idea how to run a buisness. Well, last week the last straw finaly fell. I got written up over an incident where everybody but the owner agrees I had absolutly no control over and did everything I could have done.
For the record, I locked up the store and armed the security system and went out to lock up the car wash for the night. When I got out to the was there was water flowing out from under the control room door and about 2 inches of standing water in the room. The light swich for the room cannot be reached from the exterior door and is not grounded. There is wiring very close to the floor in the room. There was absolutly no way in hell I was risking electrocution by going into that room. Even if I did I wouldn't know how to fix anything anyway, and had no tools to fix it with. I do not know how to dis-arm the security system so I could not get back into the store to get at the phone list. I managed to read the owner's cell number thrugh the back window of the booth and called him twice before deciding that he wasn't going to answer at five to midnight and left him a message, then went home. I might add that the owner is the only person who actualy knows how the car wash works, and nobody who's number is on the phone list actualy has his private home number. Apparently he expected me to stand outside in 30 degree weather and call him on my personal cell phone untill he woke up the next morining and turned his phone back on. To top it off, our head cashier got fired for sticking up for me. Needless to say, my notice is in and as of the end of the month I no longer work there.
Anyway, I certanly won't miss the stress of working two different jobs with completly opposite schedules (0415 -1245 vrs 1400-2300) and not having a full day off. I won't even miss the money. I did some math and I will actualy earn more putting in ten hours a week overtime, which the PM shift supervisor is overjoyed to give me, than I did working two 9+ hour with no break shifts there. And I'll have more free time to spend with the kitties and my new mice and just doing fun stuff, and I'll actualy have a night off so I can go out someplace fun instead of scrambling to catch an afternoon matinee at the movies.
